3. How long has Hot Shots been teaching?

Hot Shots Dance Company has been instructing dancers and cheerleaders for over 20 years, helping students build skills, confidence, teamwork, and discipline.

4. Do dancers or cheer students need prior experience to join classes?

No prior experience is required for most beginner and recreational classes. More advanced and competitive programs may require evaluations or instructor approval before placement.

Classes & Programs

5. What types of classes do you offer?

We offer over 30 classes, including recreational dance, cheer, advanced technique classes, and private lessons. Styles include ballet, jazz, lyrical, pointe, tumbling, baton, cheer, and more. We also partner with Dancing Gardens Lake Hartwell to provide Ballroom or Latin dance instruction for students who are interested.

6. Do you offer classes for beginners or all ages?

Yes. We offer classes for all ages and experience levels, from beginners to advanced students.  Our youngest students are 2 years old, and our Toddler Play (parent accompanied) starts at the age of 1.

7. Are private lessons available?

Yes. Private lessons are available for students who want one-on-one instruction to improve technique, prepare for auditions, or focus on specific skills.

8. Do you have competitive teams?

Yes. We have multiple competition dance companies and competition cheer teams. Placement is by coach invitation or instructor evaluation.

9. Do you offer Summer Camps?

Yes. HSDC does hold summer day camps (lasting 4-5 days) in June and July for both Dance & Cheer.  Summer Camp Registration Forms, schedules, age groups, themes and costs are posted to our website mid-spring.  Summer Camps do not require payment of the annual registration fee.

10. How do I register for classes?

Registration is open for the current season. Class Information: Schedule, Attendance & Placement

13. Where can I find class schedules?

Current dance, cheer, and tumble schedules are posted on our Class Schedule Page and are updated as changes are made.  After registering for class, HSDC will contact you regarding available classes for your child.

14. What if my child misses a class?

Missed classes cannot be made up once the season begins due to ongoing choreography and instruction. If a class is canceled by the studio, a makeup class will be scheduled.

15. How are dancers placed into the correct class level?

Class placement is determined by a combination of age, skill level, and instructor evaluation. Our staff carefully assesses each student to ensure they are challenged appropriately while still building strong technical foundations. Placement may be adjusted during the season as progress is made.

16. What should students wear to class?

Students should arrive dressed in appropriate dance wear (such as leotards) or cheer attire with required shoes for their class type (ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes or clean athletic shoes where applicable). Parents will be notified of specific dance/cheer wear required. Hair should be secured, and instructors will provide details on costumes or additional requirements as needed. If unsure, families are encouraged to contact the studio for class-specific guidance.

Team & Instructors

17. Who teaches the classes?

Our experienced instructors are passionate about teaching dance and cheer while building confidence and discipline in each student. We also offer an Assistant Dance Instructor Program for select students interested in gaining teaching experience. A brief bio of each of our Instructors is on our website.

Performances & Competitions

18. Do students perform or compete?

Yes. Students have opportunities to participate in studio performances and competitions through our competitive teams, which have earned awards and recognition at regional and national events.

Class Viewing Policy

HSDC's policy highly discourages parents in the classroom.  We feel it is important that children learn independence (away from Mom) and to learn to trust the Instructor during this hour of time. This is especially helpful for the younger students.  Your child will be building confidence and self-esteem and, in addition to learning dance/cheer/tumble or baton, they will also learn about taking turns, listening to the teacher, following 3-5 part instructions. All are valuable school readiness skills. We have years of experience in encouraging students to be cooperative and sociable in a nurturing environment. Having parents view the class brings a different energy into the room, and could result in stunting the growth and progression of everyone in the class.
